Ripples and Reflections

Tiny ripples run across the top of this quiet stream.  Processed in Photoshop Elements by burning a layer and then multiplying that layer over the original.   Kind of different.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/8, 1/ 60 sec., ISO 100, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Dead Tree – Yosemite

Found this old dead tree in a meadow in Yosemite.  I decided to shoot up and try to capture some of the sky that showed that day.  Fortunately the clouds were cooperating.  Processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels and saturation as well as burning and dodging.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/16, 1/80 sec., ISO 125, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Partial Shade

I was taking some shots of ferns in complete shade when I came upon this stump in partial shade.  Thought it had a lot of character so I am using it for the shade theme.  Processed in Photoshop Elements with adjusted levels, high pass filter and burning.  Still taken in Yosemite.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/5.6, 1/160 sec., ISO 100, focal length 90 mm.  No flash.

HDR Yosemite

I downloaded a free trial of Photomatix and ran three exposures through it to get the following composite HDR-like result.  I really liked the way it came out.  Great, now there’s another plug-in that I want!

Canon T1i, composite of three exposures run through Photomatix.

Meadow Dandelion – Fancy

Caught this one in a meadow in Yosemite.  This dandelion-type flower was about three feet tall.  I loved the seed pods and the seed head on this one.  Processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels, high pass filter and burning.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/16/ 1/320 sec., ISO 800, focal length 250 mm.  No flash.

Half Dome

Took this while wandering through one of the many meadows on the valley floor of Yosemite.  It’s pretty dry this time of year and the falls were pretty low .  Anyway, the poor lighting (around 12:30 pm) still allowed us to get some decent shots.  This one of Half Dome I decided to process in b/w.  Processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels and extensive dodging and burning again.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/7.1, 1/160 sec., ISO 100, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Yosemite Valley

Taken today on a trip to Yosemite.  I hadn’t been there in quite a few years.  This shot was taken as we left the valley floor about 1:30 pm or so.  Would have liked it to be later but oh well.  There were clouds moving overhead and the valley was dotted with cloud shadows.  I processed this in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels and then extensively dodging and burning.  The sky is a little blown but I liked the clouds anyway.   Hope you like it.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/5.6, 1/500 sec., ISO 100, focal length 55 mm.  Tripod used.  No flash.
