B/W Oak Tree

My husband and I took a ride along Raymond Road in the Sierra foothills today.  I processed this photo of an oak tree in Photoshop Elements 6 by adjusting levels, cropping, burning and dodging, and a little cloning.   Font is LainieDay SH.   I love oak trees in winter.

Camera settings: Canon EOS Rebel T1i, F/8, 1/250 sec., ISO 100, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Silver Maple

Silver maple leaves on a branch in my backyard.  We are having an early autumn heat wave and the leaves are shriveling on the west side of the tree.  This photo was processed in Photoshop Elements 6 with Filter/Sketch/Charcoal.  I used a black brush to erase any stray white streaks.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/2.8, 1/1600 sec., ISO 100, focal length 100 mm.  No flash.

Dead Tree – Yosemite

Found this old dead tree in a meadow in Yosemite.  I decided to shoot up and try to capture some of the sky that showed that day.  Fortunately the clouds were cooperating.  Processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels and saturation as well as burning and dodging.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/16, 1/80 sec., ISO 125, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Partial Shade

I was taking some shots of ferns in complete shade when I came upon this stump in partial shade.  Thought it had a lot of character so I am using it for the shade theme.  Processed in Photoshop Elements with adjusted levels, high pass filter and burning.  Still taken in Yosemite.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/5.6, 1/160 sec., ISO 100, focal length 90 mm.  No flash.

Windswept Tree

This old tree shows years of exposure to weather and the ocean.  This tree was found on the 17-mile drive in Carmel, CA near the Ghost Cypress.  Photo was processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels and adding a high pass filter.  Final product was burned.  I guess it is easy to see that I love trees!

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/22, 1/80 sec., ISO 1600, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Here is another take on the Lone Cypress in Carmel, CA.  I processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels, changing to b/w and then adding a sepia tone.  I did a little burning as well.  You can see the fog rolling over the mountains in the background.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/25,  1/100 sec., ISO 500, focal length 74 mm.  No flash.

B/W

Here is another shot of a tree taken on the 17-mile drive yesterday in Carmel.  This one I felt worked in b/w better.  What do you think?  Processed in Photoshop Elements with adjusted levels, dodging and burning and changing to b/w.  This one I had to straighten quite a bit (about 3 degrees).  The fog bank in the background kind of added some depth.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/9, 1/400 sec., ISO 100, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Ghost Tree

Taken today in Carmel, Ca. along the 17-mile-drive.   Processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels, burning and dodging and cloning out some fence line.  What a gorgeous day to be in Carmel and Monterey!  I thought about publishing this in b/w but decided the blue ocean set the tree off best.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/22, 1/60 sec., ISO 200, focal length 55 mm.  No flash.

Apricots

We have so many apricots this year!  This was shot this afternoon about 2 pm.  Processed in Photoshop Elements, I adjusted levels, did an overlay layer and also used filter/brush stroke/accented edges to bring out the leaves and the “freckles” on the fruit.  Have a great Father’s Day everyone!!

Camera settings: Fujifilm S700, F/4.5, 1/170 sec., ISO 64, focal length 6.3.  No flash.
