Ivory Rose

This little bud is only an inch in diameter.  The heat here in the summer really stunts the rose buds.  This little one still managed to look pretty even in the hot conditions!!  Processed in Photoshop Elements with a high pass filter, adjusting levels and some light burning.  Taken this evening about 7 pm.

Camera settings: Fujifilm S700, F/4.5, 1/110 sec., ISO 64, focal length 6.3 mm.  No flash.

Summer Windchimes

Hoping to catch a little  breeze as it is over 100 degrees here today.  Taken on my back porch.  Have a good week everyone!  Processed in Photoshop Elements by adjusting levels, adding a high pass filter and dodging.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/8, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, focal length 109 mm.  No flash.

Hawk

We found this guy in our back yard this afternoon.  He seemed a little weak and really couldn’t fly so we called Animal Control.  After a little herding and a big towel we had him wrapped up and he was taken off to a wildlife rescue.  He looked like a juvenile and I was so glad he was going to someplace where they would check him out and take care of him.  He was very beautiful.

Camera settings:  Canon T1i, F/5.6, 1/200 sec., ISO 125, focal length 187 mm.  No flash.

Panorama

We took a ride to Monterey today so expect the next few photographs to be from our trip!  Monterey was beautiful and not too crowded.  Carmel was packed because of the US Open Golf Tournament in Pebble Beach.  We had a good time.  Here is a five shot panorama I took on Monterey Bay near Pacific Grove.  Processed in Photoshop Elements and adjusted levels and did some burning and a little cloning when the panorama was complete.  Click through twice to see enlarged.

Camera settings: Fujifilm S700, F/5.6, 1/240-1/340 sec., ISO 64, focal length 9.3 mm.  No flash.

Apricots

We have so many apricots this year!  This was shot this afternoon about 2 pm.  Processed in Photoshop Elements, I adjusted levels, did an overlay layer and also used filter/brush stroke/accented edges to bring out the leaves and the “freckles” on the fruit.  Have a great Father’s Day everyone!!

Camera settings: Fujifilm S700, F/4.5, 1/170 sec., ISO 64, focal length 6.3.  No flash.

Darkness

This is a sculpture I have that I took with just candlelight.  In Photoshop Elements I painted in a black background on a separate layer.  I then processed in Topaz Simplify buz sim.  Levels were also adjusted.  Cute, but kind of spooky, too!

Camera settings: Fujifilm S700, F/3.4, 1/4 sec., ISO 800, 6.3 mm focal length.  No flash.  Hand held.

Dozen and Green

Combined these two for a simple still life of eggs in a bowl.  Processed in Photoshop Elements with just levels adjustment.

Camera settings: Fujifilm S700, F/3.5, 1/7 sec., ISO 800, focal length 6.3 mm.  No flash.

B/W Sketch

Processed in Photoshop Elements with photocopy sketch effect.  I adjusted the width and pressure of the pen and burned and dodged to bring out accents.  Hope you like it.  We were celebrating this girl’s graduation from kindergarten.

Camera settings: Canon T1i, F/11, 1/15 sec., ISO 800, focal length 53 mm.  No flash.

Here is an alternate version that I like better.  I used the sketch technique article in the July/Aug. ’09 issue of “Adobe Photoshop Elements Techniques” magazine by Mike Rodriguez.
